Covid-19 Prevention.
The Lodge uses a prevention system that consists of both information to the guests about how to prevent the spreading of the disease, and also a set of internal guide-lines for the different departments at the Lodge. We work systematically with daily routines to minimize the risk for infection.
For you as a guest we have taken precautions so you can avoid being to close to other guests at the breakfast buffet or by dinner. Our lounge and bar area is open and can be used at your own level of comfort with other guests.

Booking Policy Private guests 2020/2021
Rules for quarantine, Covid-19 illness and Shutdown of borders.

For domestic travellers

For domestic travellers journeying in Sweden, the normal cancellation policy applies. The Swedish Public Health Authority updates the recommendations continually, and together with the Region of Norrbotten’s information about local recommendations – this together is considered enough information for the private guest to reach an individual decision if to travel or not.

The booking policy for Abisko Mountain Lodge that applies for private guests is enclosed with the confirmation sent out to the guests that have confirmed their reservation. They are also stated here:

If the guest cancels their reservation later than 28 days before arrival, 50 of the room reservation is charged. All activity bookings can be cancelled up to 15 days before the activity is due to happen, without charge. Cancellation of activities within 15 days is not possible without 100% charge.

Should the traveller fall ill in Covid-19 within the set dates of cancellation, the traveller’s health insurance applies as with all illnesses, and the guest will be charged within the agreed rules of the normal cancellation policy.

Should airports that are essential for the route to Abisko close, or the train stop taking guests to Abisko, and this would be the only means by which the guest can travel to Abisko, 100% reimbursement is applied regardless of when this happens.

Foreign travellers and Swedish citizens living permanently abroad.

The Swedish Embassy’s webpage Sweden Abroad (https://www.swedenabroad.se) is the decisive norm for what is considered to be regulations for international travelling to Sweden and also states the rules for quarantine travelling between nations. This web page is continually updated and is a pedagogic tool to use for both guests and the reservation office at Abisko Mountain Lodge.
Should a country apply restrictions stated on this above-mentioned web page, Sweden Abroad, those restrictions are then the ground for this policy’s rules for quarantine/closed borders. In all other cases the normal cancellation policy is valid and the travellers own decision and insurance applies.

The Swedish Public Health Authorities softer recommendations for travelling within Sweden, is not enough to base a decision to apply the policy rules for quarantine/closed borders as stated above.

Should the web page, Sweden Abroad, be updated with new rules regarding quarantine/closed borders, for the particular traveller’s route going to Abisko Mountain Lodge, within 4-2 weeks prior to arrival, 25 of the amount is charged. Should the rules be changed in the meaning that Sweden closes it’s borders to foreign travellers (or it would not be possible to connect by plane or train up to Kiruna due to these quarantine rules), then the guests has the right to full reimbursement.

If Sweden closes it’s borders for foreign travellers, or for Swedes living permanently abroad, the policy is 100% free cancellation. The travellers can always choose to move the reservation to another possible date should they prefer this.
Swedes living permanently abroad is considered to have the same status as foreign guests since they need to comply to the rules of their country of residence. Swedes that has a second home abroad and are not living there permanently are considered Swedish and domestic rules are applied to these reservations.

Normal cancellation policy is as follows: If the guest cancels their reservation later than 28 days before arrival, 50 of the room reservation is charged.

Should domestic airports that are essential for the route to Abisko close, or the train stop taking guests to Abisko, and this would be the only means by which the guest can travel to Abisko, 100% reimbursement is applied regardless of when this happens
